Pubs have always been at the heart of the community and at the heart of the Good Friday Appeal.
In 1946, the very first collection container was placed on the counter of the George Hotel in South Melbourne. The idea quickly caught on with the Tanti Hotel in Mornington raising 28 pounds in the first year.
Fast forward to 2026, we're celebrating 80 years since that first collection tin and the 95th Good Friday Appeal. These milestones are only possible because of the generosity and community spirit of pubs just like yours.
Now it's your turn to be part of this proud tradition. By signing up for Pubs with Purpose, your pub can:
- Rally your community behind a cause that touches families everywhere.

In 2025 the Drysdale Hotel raised $36,000 through their local community, while the ALH Group turned every parma sold across their Victorian venues into a donation. Two very different approaches, one shared purpose - proving that every pub can find their own way to give back.
This year we invite pubs everywhere to step up, celebrate these milestones and help create brighter futures for sick kids at The Royal Children's Hospital.
