Award-Winning Community Spirit
Tuesday 24th Feb
Some acts of service happen quietly, year after year, without expectation of recognition.
But in 2020, the Mornington Peninsula Shire paused to acknowledge something special: the Uncle Bobs Club Good Friday Wheelbarrow Push.
The initiative received an Australia Day Acknowledgement of Excellence Award, honouring decades of dedication to children’s health.
Behind the award are families, volunteers, and community members who have committed their time and energy to raising funds for kids who need medical care. What makes this story remarkable isn’t just the longevity, it’s the consistency.
For decades upon decades, the wheelbarrow has rolled. Donations have been collected. And children and families have benefited.
Recognition is wonderful, but the real reward is knowing that every dollar raised helps improve the lives of Victorian kids.
This Good Friday, you can stand alongside this award-winning community spirit.
👉 Donate now and help keep the wheel turning.

he Wheelbarrow Push begins at the top of Point Nepean Road in Sorrento, near the Intercontinental Hotel.
From there, 12 volunteers at a time walk beside the barrow as it makes its way along the main beach road. The route - 29km in total.
The team take a lunch break at the Rosebud Hotel — a location tied to the Club’s history since 1956 — before the final stretch to the Safety Beach Sailing Club.
There are no extra stops. No shortcuts. Just steady progress and a community cheering along the way.

ShareA World Champion Is Fighting for Sick Kids
Tuesday 24th Feb
Uncle Bob’s Club is proud to welcome Australian world champion boxer Desley Robinson as our newest ambassador.
Desley isn’t just a champion in the ring, she’s a champion for resilience, belief and opportunity.
The only Australian boxer to hold two world titles at the same time, Desley claimed the IBF female middleweight world title in December 2024 and unified the division in April 2025. Most recently, she defended her titles in Texas with a dominant second-round TKO — cementing her place on the global stage.
But it’s her story outside the ring that makes her partnership with UBC so powerful.
A single mum of three, Desley built her career from local gyms while managing family life and financial pressure. She understands what it means to dig deep, fight hard and believe in something bigger.
That’s why she’s standing behind Uncle Bob’s Club.
“Every one of these kids is fighting a battle that most of us don’t understand,” Desley says. “As a professional boxer and now a two-time world champion, I know what it takes to fight. I’m here to help these kids fight their battles through every challenge they face.”
For Desley, strength isn’t something you’re given — it’s something you build.
“Every child deserves to be happy. But they also deserve to be healthy. That’s what I love about Uncle Bob’s Club — raising funds for sick kids and getting people behind this great cause.”
As Desley continues her rise toward boxing history, she’s using her platform to raise awareness and vital funds for children requiring medical assistance and their families.
Now, she’s inviting you to join her.
👉 Donate today and help fight for children’s health across Victoria.
