Hi Everyone! On the 15th of November this year, I'll be embarking on my second biggest challenge yet!! I'm going to run FIFTY KILOMETERS!!
My biggest challenge was on the 15th of November in 2021. At just 16 years old, I was diagnosed with two life-threatening diseases, Meningitis and Encephalitis. The diseases attacked both the inside and outside of my brain, which spread rapidly and left me unresponsive and dangerously close to losing my life.
One day I was a normal teenage girl with my whole future ahead of me and the next, I was lying in a hospital bed with my future unknown and my tomorrow not guaranteed.
Thanks to the incredible care, treatment, and support from the Royal Children’s Hospital, I’m here today and I’m fricken thriving!
This isn't to say I don't still have my struggles because I certainly do have my days where my illness still affects me but far out, I've got a life that i can live and man am I making the most of it!!!
Thanks to the doctors, specialists and nurses, me and so many other children have been given a second chance, and that’s something I will never, ever take for granted.
So, on my 5th sickness anniversary I'll be running 50km and want to raise $50,000 for the hospital that gave me (and so many others) a second chance at life.
