I’ve created this page to show how grateful i am for the RCH
In early 2016 my family experienced one of the most traumatic experiences a family could go through. I came home from dads after a fun filled weekend feeling a little under the weather. Off we went to the drs, this is where we were told I had a virus and was to rest in bed but that night i gradually got worse. My head was pounding, i was vomiting continuously and was very out of it. A few hours went by and my mum heard a loud bang, she came into my room to me fitting on the floor uncontrollably. An ambulance was called and within minutes they were at our house strapping me to a bed and taking me off to the royal children’s hospital. When we got there they performed a lumbar puncture which confirmed i had meningococcal. My brain was swelling and i was put into a coma in the ICU. My parents were told i wasn’t going to make it, being their only child i could only imagine how that must’ve felt. Days later i pulled through, i was breathing on my own but still very out of it. To this day i don’t remember much of what happened as i acquired a brain injury but i do remember the incredible drs and nurses that treated me like an absolute princess throughout my whole hospital stay. If it wasn’t for the RCH i probably wouldn’t be here today. Please dig deep and lets raise money for such a great cause!
