Roman's Good Friday Appeal Fundraiser
Monday 9th MarJanuary 6th 2025, our 6 months old baby boy Roman had open heart surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital for a T.O.F (Tetralogy of Fallot) repair. A condition we found out our son had while pregnant at our 21 week ultrasound. Many blood tests, ultrasounds and doctors appointments later it was time to operate.
One year on he is thriving and doing amazing things everyday. He has such a joy for life and is as cheeky as ever. The appointments have slowed right down from every week to every few months appointments. For now, he will still need a yearly echocardiograms and cardiology appointment review.
I haven't posted much about Roman and his health until recently because our family was in the thick of things. Juggling a toddler and a baby in hospital was so gut wrenching and full of guilt for me as a Mother. My baby boy needed me just as much as my 3 year old needed her Mumma. We were lucky enough to be able to stay close to Roman at the Ronald McDonald house, as we weren't able to stay in the room while he was in the NICU for the first few nights. Having the accomodations close by, with out the added financial burden, as well being able to save our precious time on being with Roman, instead of traveling back and forth back home.
As I look at my beautiful, thriving, healthy kids I am so grateful for the team that took care of us all during that time.
Thank you to the sonographers pre/post birth, the very skilled Surgeons and the truly caring and dedicated Nurses at the Rosella NICU ward and the Koala ward at the RCH.
Most importantly, thank you to our loving family. Without everyone's support it would have felt impossible to cope through it all.
We are so lucky to have an amazing Children's Hospital here in Melbourne. The RCH Good Friday appeal is very close to our hearts and your support, big or small is greatly appreciated.
