Good Friday Appeal 2025

I‘ve created this page because I want to make a difference to the lives of sick kids.

The Good Friday Appeal relies on the support of the community to raise funds to ensure that The Royal Children's Hospital is able to continue to provide world class care to patients and their families. From 2022 to 2023 at The Royal Children's Hospital: 90,260 patients presented to the Emergency Department, 50,345 children and young people were admitted to a ward, 407,563 children and young people attended an outpatient appointment, and 14,963 patients underwent surgery. So please help by giving whatever you are able to this fundraiser and help spread the word by sharing this page with your friends, family and networks. Thank you for your generosity, it means a lot!

Olivia’s story

Tuesday 11th Mar

As most of you know my daughter Olivia was born with a condition called ‘Pierre Robin Sequence’.   Not many people know of this and i must say, i definitely didn’t, until we found out at my 15 week ultrasound.

Pierre Robin sequence is a birth defect that involves a smaller chin , cleft palate and breathing issues from birth.  Hearing that your baby has a birth defect is not something you want to hear especially if it’s your first baby.  As scared and terrified as I was, I always knew my girl was going to be an absolute fighter and she has been since the day she was born.

Olivia spent 51 days in hospital with a feeding tube , breathing tube and many cords attached to her everyday.     Coming in and out of that hospital everyday for 51 days was alot for our mental, physical and emotional health.   That feeling of having to leave my baby every night is a feeling I never want to experience again and i would not wish that upon anyone.

Olivia then had 2 jaw surgeries to help her breathe comfortably on her own.  This was absolutely terrifying, to think my 2 month old baby was going to have surgery!!!  Although many, many tears were shed, the Royal Children’s medical team equipped me with knowledge and confidence and comfort which definitely made me feel so much better about the whole thing.

I honestly can’t thank the Royal Children’s enough for what they have done, for not only Olivia, but for ALL the children that are there for many, many reasons.   I will never forget the other babies and parents sitting by their bedside knowing that some had been in there longer than others and not knowing when they will be taking their babies home.   The staff and medical teams are like no other.  The way they handle situations, care for not only our children but also us parents, caring, keeping us calm and always there for a chat to raise our spirits and making sure that we have eaten, and keeping hydrated ect.  They honestly are superhero’s and I will be forever thanking them.

Olivia is now 7 months old and as cheeky as ever.  She is absolutely thriving and loving life just as I am with having my baby home sweet home 🩷

I would love for you all to donate to this amazing Hospital and show your love and support for what they do as well as support the various causes and special equipment needed to help all children go home to their families 🤍
