Good Friday Appeal 2025

They Helped Our Family-Now We Want to Give Back

When our little one, Rydah, was just learning to walk, he developed a swollen ankle. At first, we were told it was nothing—maybe just a sprain from those wobbly first steps. But 24 hours later, the hospital called us back with news that changed everything: Ryder had osteomyelitis, a serious and potentially life-threatening bone infection.

We were immediately sent to The Royal Children’s Hospital, where the doctors and staff provided the most incredible care. Ryder underwent surgery to clean out the infection, and while we were terrified, we knew he was in the best hands. The doctors warned us there might be long-term complications as he grows, but thanks to their quick action and expertise, he has a bright future ahead.

After seven days in the hospital, we were finally able to go home, but Rydah’s treatment wasn’t over. He needed continuous antibiotics, delivered through a special pump he carried with him 24/7. It was a tough journey, but one made easier by the kindness, dedication, and world-class care of The Royal Children’s Hospital.

This is why we support the Good Friday Appeal—because without the hospital’s incredible team, our story could have had a very different ending. They save and change lives every day, and they rely on the generosity of people like you.

Every donation, big or small, helps ensure that children like Rydah get the care they need when they need it most. Please consider donating to the Good Friday Appeal and making a difference for families like ours.

Because every child deserves the very best chance at a happy, healthy life.

I‘ve created this page because I want to make a difference to the lives of sick kids.

The Good Friday Appeal relies on the support of the community to raise funds to ensure that The Royal Children's Hospital is able to continue to provide world class care to patients and their families. From 2022 to 2023 at The Royal Children's Hospital: 90,260 patients presented to the Emergency Department, 50,345 children and young people were admitted to a ward, 407,563 children and young people attended an outpatient appointment, and 14,963 patients underwent surgery. So please help by giving whatever you are able to this fundraiser and help spread the word by sharing this page with your friends, family and networks. Thank you for your generosity, it means a lot!
