I've created this page because I want to make a difference.
My granddaughter Ava was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2019 and our family’s whole world came crashing down.
Our beautiful, bright, energetic, funny Ava, who had just turned 5, had cancer and we could not believe it. The next months spent at the Royal Children’s Hospital were a blur of tests, chemo, steroids, and all the side effects and more. It was heartbreaking to watch her go through the treatment but inspiring how she continued to smile and soldier on. She is my absolute hero and has taught us all so much about life and strength.
She knows more medical language than any child should know and quite openly talks about cancer, handling every single setback along the way
Since then the treatment has continued and she is doing wonderfully with regular visits to the hospital.
I cannot thank the staff at the Royal Children’s Hospital enough. They are not only professional and you feel safe in their hands, they are also kind and caring. They handle the worst possible situation with such love and compassion and we feel blessed that our beautiful Ava is in the best possible care.
I’m inspired by the work of The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in the 2021 Good Friday Appeal.
The Appeal relies on the support of the community to raise funds to ensure the The Royal Children's Hospital is able to continue to provide world class care to patients and their families. The hospital treats over 50,000 children in the wards and medical centre, and 90,000 in Emergency each year. So please, help me help them, by giving whatever you are able to my fundraiser.
The more people that know about the Good Friday Appeal, the greater their impact, so please help me spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot to every child and family, and personally to Ava and I.
