Elijah’s heart journey ❤️‍🩹

Good Friday Appeal 2024

I have created this page as this charity is close to my heart ❤️

I am fundraising for the Good Friday Appeal as with out the royal children’s hospital amazing work my premature son Elijah would not have a fighting chance at life. Elijah was born early at 30 weeks via emergency c section and new from 22 weeks gestation that he would need heart surgery as Elijah has T21 more commonly known as Down syndrome where heart defect is quiet common at 50%. At 7 weeks premature Elijah was transferred from the women’s hospital in melb ( as it was way to high risk to have him locally as they do not have the facilities to manage his medical condition ) to the children’s where he has undergone stage 1 of his heart surgery on his aortic arch and is still recovering from that but doing well as it’s going to be a slow process due to his prematurity and T21 and don’t know how long we will be here. Then when he is a little older between 3 and 6 months he will coming back for stage 2 where he will have his Atrioventricular Septal Defect repaired which is holes in his top and bottom chambers of his heart. These surgeries would not be possible locally and it’s only with donations from generous donors like yourself, babies and children like Elijah who has had a tough start to life have an opportunity to over come what they are going through and to life a normal life as possible. Any amount of donations goes a long way. As I have seen first hand the medical equipment that has and is keeping my son safe, comfortable and alive with a variety of medications and machines. A huge thank you from myself and Elijah for you donations xoxo

I‘ve created this page because I want to make a difference to the lives of sick kids.

The Good Friday Appeal relies on the support of the community to raise funds to ensure that The Royal Children's Hospital is able to continue to provide world class care to patients and their families. From 2022 to 2023 at The Royal Children's Hospital: 90,260 patients presented to the Emergency Department, 50,345 children and young people were admitted to a ward, 407,563 children and young people attended an outpatient appointment, and 14,963 patients underwent surgery. So please help by giving whatever you are able to this fundraiser and help spread the word by sharing this page with your friends, family and networks. Thank you for your generosity, it means a lot!
