Myself & Kimberley have decided to raise money for the RCH, this is a special place that holds many memories for us & so many other families.
Sunday 22nd MarSince birth, Margot has undergone four procedures at the Royal Children’s Hospital due to a duplex kidney causing hydronephrosis in her left kidney. Her condition was first identified at 20 weeks during pregnancy, which meant weekly scans until she was born.
After Margot arrived, we also discovered she has a vascular malformation (a beautiful birthmark) on her right leg. Thankfully, this has no impact on her health and is unrelated to her kidney condition.
From birth, Margot has required a daily prophylactic antibiotic to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections, which could lead to further complications with her kidney. After her fourth procedure, we were hopeful it would be her last. However, more recently, Margot developed another UTI, leading to further testing and the likelihood of another procedure, which is yet to be confirmed.
As many would know, the Royal Children’s Hospital is an incredibly special place, filled with extraordinary people. While we have spent what some might consider a significant amount of time there, we still consider ourselves among the lucky ones. For many children, the hospital becomes more familiar than the outside world. It is through the support of the community that the hospital can continue providing the care and resources these children and families rely on.
To all the staff at the RCH—your care, compassion, and positivity are truly inspiring. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we, along with so many other families, are deeply grateful for everything you do.
