Good Friday Appeal 2026

For the Children!

Barrymore Early Learning is proud to support the Good Friday Appeal, recognising the vital role it plays in helping children and families who rely on life-saving medical care.

As an early learning service, we see every day how important it is for children to feel safe, supported and given every opportunity to thrive. By participating in the Good Friday Appeal, we are not only raising funds but also teaching our children about compassion, community, and the power of helping others.

We at Barrymore Early Learning believe that every child deserves the chance to succeed. Because of this of this we are inviting our families and community to support us in this important cause, as together we can model generosity, kindness and social responsibility, while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children who need it most.

The Good Friday Appeal has been raising funds for sick kids and their families at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) for 95 years.

Through the generosity of the community, the RCH continues to deliver world‑class, comprehensive care.

Every dollar donated supports:

  • Ground‑breaking research
  • State‑of‑the‑art equipment
  • Training and unique patient‑centred care programs

In just one year (2024–2025), hundreds of thousands of kids were cared for:

  • 85,415 appointments for urgent and essential care in the Emergency Department
  • 53,450 admissions to a ward, where children and young people received expert, compassionate care
  • 15,106 surgeries, paving the way for brighter futures
  • An incredible 456,000 outpatients seen — that’s an average of 1,250 appointments a day

By supporting this fundraiser, you are part of the impact, helping children live their best possible lives.

Please help make a difference and share this page with your friends, families, and networks.

Thank you for giving for the kids.

My Updates

Ruby's Story

Thursday 26th Feb

My name is Ruby, I am a Educator at Barrymore Early Learning.

I was born with a significantly underdeveloped left kidney — I often describe it as resembling a shrivelled balloon. From birth, this meant ongoing monitoring to ensure my overall health and to protect the function of my right kidney.

From the time I was born until around age 13, my mum took me regularly to The Royal Children's Hospital for specialist appointments, diagnostic tests, scans, and procedures.

The nurses, doctors, and support staff approached every visit with patience, care, fun, and empathy, helping to ease the anxiety that often accompanies medical procedures, especially for young patients.

Regular monitoring was essential to ensure that my functioning kidney remained healthy and that any potential complications were addressed early. Thanks to the vigilance and dedication of the specialists involved in my care, I was able to grow, attend school, and develop to be the Educator you see today.

For as long as I can remember Good Friday has held a special meaning in my home. Each year, I would walk around the house with my Care Bears money tin, shaking it, with all the coins I had found around my room, asking my family to donate to the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

To this day, I remain deeply grateful for the Royal Children's Hospital and role they played in my life.
