Zac's Brave Fight

Good Friday Appeal 2026

The Good Friday Appeal has been raising funds for sick kids and their families at The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) for 95 years.

Through the generosity of the community, the RCH continues to deliver world‑class, comprehensive care.

Every dollar donated supports:

  • Ground‑breaking research
  • State‑of‑the‑art equipment
  • Training and unique patient‑centred care programs

In just one year (2024–2025), hundreds of thousands of kids were cared for:

  • 85,415 appointments for urgent and essential care in the Emergency Department
  • 53,450 admissions to a ward, where children and young people received expert, compassionate care
  • 15,106 surgeries, paving the way for brighter futures
  • An incredible 456,000 outpatients seen β€” that’s an average of 1,250 appointments a day

By supporting this fundraiser, you are part of the impact, helping children live their best possible lives.

Please help make a difference and share this page with your friends, families, and networks.

Thank you for giving for the kids.

My Updates

Optic changes with NF1

Tuesday 31st Mar
At Zac's genetics appointment todayΒ  (31st March 2026) the doctors said thatΒ  he had some unique presentations of NF1, to the point where the entire team of doctors are at a loss. They've decided to do additional gene sequencing. We will get results in 6-8 weeks. This will check to see his under developed retina is NF1 related (rare and these doctors haven't seen them coexist in their careers) or if he has NF1 and an under developed retina in addition to NF1. The presentation of his retina difference and the diagnosis of NF1 have them stumped hence the further genetic testing. They've asked us if they can use their findings on zac for research because how unique his case is.Β

Zac's Brave NF1 Fight

Monday 30th Mar
The beautiful Zaccy that you all know and love, will be 4 in May.Β

In November of 2025, we recieved a clinical diagnosis for him of NF1. That was further supported by an MRI to check for brain lesions back in February 2026, and in March 2026 he was officially diagnosed and is now under the care of the NF clinic at RCH until he turns 18.Β

Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), a genetic condition that affects how his body and brain grow. How it manifests is different for everyone. There is no cure.Β

Zac’s NF1 means he experiences:
Gross and fine motor delays – everyday movements like running, climbing, or holding objects are challenging for him.Β

Speech impairment – communicating can be slow and frustrating.

Sensory overload – loud noises, busy environments, and certain textures can be overwhelming.

Global developmental delay (GDD), hypotonia, and hypermobility – this is affecting his strength, coordination, and flexibility.

NF1 is an invisible disability, meaning that while Zac may look like any other child, he faces daily struggles that are often unseen.Β

He will need lifelong support, hospital visits, scans, and therapies to help him thrive.

The Royal Children’s Hospital provides vital care, specialist equipment, and therapy programs that children like Zac rely on.Β

By supporting the RCH Good Friday Appeal, you’re helping give Zac and countless other children the care, treatment, and hope they need every day.

Every donation counts – thank you for helping Zac reach his full potential!
