Honouring Jakob's Memory
Jakob Luka Glavan was born on the 21st Dec 1999. Jakob was a very special Christmas present for first time parents Anna, Lou and their respective families. From those early days his life was full of love and affection, no one was to know that was to be his only Christmas. Their new family life was as normal as any new family, full of those infant milestones all infants go through. This all changed however over the course of 7 days.
What started as one of those episodes of an unsettled crying baby, quickly escalated into Jakob fighting for his life at the Royal Children’s Hospital ICU 24hrs later. Despite the efforts of some of the world’s best medical specialist and the care provided over the course of the next week, sadly Jakob passed away peacefully while being cradled in the arms of his parents on the 25th September 2000.
How do you bring meaning to Jakob’s short 279 days with us?
Through the support of our good friend Tony from the St Andrews Hotel we decided to honour Jakob's memory, by bringing people together in support of the RCH Good Friday Appeal. The idea dreamt up in the St Andrews Hotel, who still support along with many other fantastic businesses and wonderful individuals Jakob’s Day has donated over $905,000 to the GFA over 17 years.
